Marching to the Wrong Distant Drum: Pedagogic Agents, Emotion and Student Modelling
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the last few years there has been a strong growth of interest in pedagogical agents. Typically, these agents are represented to learners as simulated beings (dogs, bugs, ants, humans) existing in some virtual environment. Along with this new way of communicating with children there has been a corresponding rise of interest in emotional agents, agents that manifest some behaviour based on an underlying simulation of emotional state and rules that govern transitions from one state to another. Combining these two concepts, we now have the notion of emotional pedagogical agents. In this paper, we argue that this research direction is certainly a difficult one but may also be perilous. We sympathise with the research goal of modelling humans in the round, adding an emotional component to existing models of cognitive and sensorimotor behaviour. We can happily pursue this activity as a research goal which should lead to many interesting discussions even though we argue that adding an emotional component to a core cognitive model will not lead to a convincing model of a person, and may lead quickly to a research dead end.

Nonlinear Modelling of Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant Drum-Boiler and Drum Level control especially in trip conditions
There are various methods of power generation such as combined cycle power plants. There are many variables in a power plant boiler unit, but the most important variables are Pressure and specially drum level that control system should be put it in the safe range. The purpose of this article is, modifying the oscillatory behavior of the drum level of Kerman combined cycle power plant and especi...

it is the instructor’s responsibility to instill a positive attitude and set high expectations for all members, while helping students grow and become better musicians. If difficulty is the modern measuring stick for superiority, then one can certainly argue that multi-tenors are the most challenging instrument to play, while others will say the bass drum requires the most demanding skill. Alth...
متن کاملResults from a Multi-center Investigation of the Effect of Network Latency on Pedagogic Efficacy
Interactive web-based learning tools, such as engineering simulations, are becoming increasingly common. Universities find them cost-effective, and students find them convenient. Professors find web-based simulations effective to intuitively convey the complex cause-and-effect relationships that are central in engineering education. For example, moving a slider can be used to interactively see ...
